About AISMST, South China University of Technology

South China Advanced Institute for Soft Matter Science and Technology (AISMST) was founded at South China University of Technology on May 23rd, 2016. The institute is led by the founding (honorable) Dean Prof. Dr. Stephen Z. D. Cheng, a member of the National Academy of Engineering of US. AISMST focus on the research and development in various areas of soft matter, and conducts both fundamental and applied researches via an interdisciplinary approach on new molecular designs and syntheses, functional and intelligent materials and manufacturing, as well as industrial applications. AISMST dedicates to academic invention and innovation, technology development, as well as cultivation of talents and targets to be the world top education and research institute in the area of soft matter.

About College of Polymer Science and Engineering, Sichuan University

The discipline of polymer science and engineering at SCU started from the 1953, one of the earliest polymer materials majors in China, and it has been growing up in the last half century on such a stage that the first polymer major college was established in 2001 (College of Polymer Science and Engineering, SCU). Currently, there are over 80 faculty members with more than 800 graduate students in the college involved in fundamental and applied research related to polymers and soft matters. The annual fund on the polymer and soft matter research at SCU exceeds 80 million RMB (i.e. ~ 11 million US Dollars), and the number of polymer-related papers from SCU published in SCI journals ranks first globally during the past 10 years, according to the results from Institute for Scientific Information (ISI). Now SCU becomes one of the largest global centers for polymer and soft matter research, integrating discovery, student training and technological applications.

About CSMSE, Peking University

The Center for Soft Matter Science and Engineering (CSMSE) of PKU is a multidisciplinary institute launched in 2013 to advance the fundamental understanding in soft materials science and the development of soft materials for various applications. The CSMSE was initiated by Prof. Qi-Feng Zhou (Academician, Vice-president of IUPAC) and Prof. Stephen Z. D. Cheng (member of NAE of USA), and has matured to include now 8 senior and 2 junior faculties working on diverse topics covering traditional polymeric materials, organic materials, as well as organic-inorganic hybrids. The long term goal of CSMSE is to establish a world-class research team actively expanding the horizon of new materials and address unmet economic, medical, environmental and energy demands of the world.
